In celebration of World Environment Day 2025, Sumathi Holdings hosted a powerful and inspiring session themed “Green Tomorrow” on June 5th at the company’s Level 5 Auditorium. The event reflected Sumathi Holdings’ deep-rooted commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability-driven leadership across all its ventures.
The session featured renowned environmentalist and guest speaker Mr. Nishshanka De Silva, Founder of the Zero Plastic Movement, who delivered a compelling message on sustainability, plastic pollution, and the urgent need for corporate and individual action to protect our planet. His words resonated deeply with the audience, inspiring a collective sense of responsibility.
“Sustainability is not a choice anymore; it’s a necessity. Every step we take today shapes the kind of world we leave behind for tomorrow,” said Mr. De Silva.
As a symbolic and sustainable gesture, every participant received a live plant in a minimalist eco-pot—encouraging them to take home a piece of the green mission and nurture it forward. This simple yet powerful act captured the essence of the day: growth, responsibility, and connection with nature.
The entrance to the auditorium was adorned with a handcrafted, fully natural photo frame, created using palm fronds, flowers, and foliage—an impressive visual representation of eco-conscious creativity. It served not just as décor but also as a conversation piece, reminding all who entered of the natural world we are striving to protect.
Staff members came dressed in “Shades of Green,” symbolizing unity and collective purpose in working toward a cleaner, greener future.
This initiative is one of many under Sumathi Holdings’ broader sustainability vision, aligning with the company’s environmental values and national and global goals such as SDG 13 – Climate Action and SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production.
Events like “Green Tomorrow” are not just celebrations—they are reminders that every organization has the power to be a force for positive environmental change.
