Sumathi Holdings proudly hosted the 21st U W Sumathipala Commemoration Scholarship Programme on 31st July 2025, in honor of our late Chairperson Mr. U. W. Sumathipala’s 46th death anniversary and in remembrance of Mrs. Milina Sumathipala.
Since its launch in 2005, this annual scholarship initiative has been dedicated to empowering the children of Sumathi Holdings Group employees by supporting their academic goals. Over the years, it has become a cornerstone educational programme that reflects our long-standing commitment to nurturing young talent and investing in Sri Lanka’s future leaders.
Scholarship Categories for 2025
This year, scholarships were awarded in three key categories:
- Grade 5 Scholarship Achievers (2024) – children of employees who excelled in the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination.
- University Entrants (2025) – students who secured admission to Sri Lankan universities.
- Current University Students – those pursuing studies at both government and private universities.
In 2025, we proudly recognized 33 university scholarship recipients and 9 Grade 5 scholarship awardees, celebrating their hard work, academic excellence, and dedication.
